(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Governor JB Pritzker says competing rulings by federal judges in Texas and Washington regarding abortion pills will have no impact in Illinois.
The governor said in a statement, “the Texas court has issued a dangerous decision.”
The abortion medication mifepristone has been widely available for more than 20 years.
“This ruling is a clear and concerted effort by anti-abortion, far-right activists and politicians,” Pritzker wrote, “to dismantle sexual and reproductive health care nationwide. We will not let them win.”
He added that, “thanks to the Washington decision, nothing has changed in Illinois.”
The statement said, “reproductive rights are enshrined in Illinois law and will stay that way.”
