(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — As the investigation continues into a fight at a basketball game last Friday between Thornwood and Kankakee high schools, the superintendent of the Kankakee school district wants adults who joined the fight to face consequences.

District 111 Supt. Generva Walters was at the game at Thornwood High School in South Holland to watch her son play. She said the fight began after a Thornwood player shoved a Kankakee player.

She said as many as four adults started punching a Kankakee player, including one adult she believes is an assistant coach for Thornwood.

Adults who joined the fight should face criminal charges — or at least be disciplined in some way, she said.

"Those adults should be either banned from going to games or responsible to give a statement of apology. Or, there should be some conversation, but there should be some kind of consequence for the adults that participated in that fight," Walters told WBBM Newsradio.

Walters said she's working with leaders at Thornwood High School to identify the adults involved in the fight and seek criminal charges against them.
