Low COVID-19 transmission rates are prompting the largest health system in illinois to ease its mask and visitor policies.

Starting Monday, Advocate Health Care will not require masks to be worn inside its facilities in most cases. It will also no longer limit the number of visitors a patient can have.

In a statement, Advocate Health cited consistently low COVID-19 transmission rates in Illinois and the end of the respiratory viral season as two of the reasons for the changes.

The statement also said masks will still be required for patients who test positive for COVID-19 or who are in isolation for a transmittable condition.

Masks may also be required in oncology and transplant units.
