CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — South Side Ald. Desmon Yancy (5th) has threatened to go to the police after accusing a fellow Ald. Greg Mitchell (7th) of assaulting him.

Yancy claimed fellow Mitchell attacked him physically behind the Chicago City Council chamber after last week's city council meeting.

The Sun-Times reported the two have been at odds over Yancy's proposal to protect residents who are worried about being gentrified out of their own neighborhood as the Obama Presidential Center is being built.

Mitchell put out a statement denying he ever assaulted Yancy — or anyone — in his life.

He said that's not his style.

Still, he said the pair met for two hours to work through their differences.
