UPDATE: Arrests made in connection to state-wide Amber Alert

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An Amber Alert was issued Thursday morning after a car was stolen with a 4-year-old in the vehicle. The child was found around 3 p.m. Now a one juvenile has been arrested on a kidnapping charge, and four other teenagers have been arrested on connected stolen vehicle charges.

The vehicle was stolen around 6 a.m. in Rock Island around 14th 1/2 Street and 13th Avenue. Blessing J. Aoci, 4, was in the car at the time.


The vehicle was found a short time later, but the child was not in the car.

Around 7 p.m. on Thursday, police shared that five juveniles had been arrested in connection to the case.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with kidnapping and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Three other teen boys were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. They are 14, 15 and 16 years old.

Jaron Bailey-Harris, 18, has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a stolen vehicle.

McCloud explained why it took more than a half-hour to issue an Amber Alert following the girl's disappearance.

"There are criteria as this goes through Springfield about when they can release this out over the phones. The criteria includes whether or not there is a suspect vehicle that we're looking for or if there is a suspect that's associated with this. We didn't have those at the time."
