NAPERVILLE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An ammonia spill at a restaurant in Naperville Monday night led to a hazardous materials response by the fire department and sent one person to a hospital.
It happened at Ramsay’s Kitchen at 39 W. Jefferson Avenue, at about 9:20 p.m.
About a gallon of ammonia had spilled, according to the fire department. It was “off gassing,” producing noxious fumes. The spill occurred in the basement.
Staff and patrons had evacuated by the time firefighters arrived.
One person was taken to Edward Hospital in stable condition.
Firefighters had it cleaned up in about 30 minutes.
They ventilated the building, and the restaurant was allowed to be occupied about 30 minutes after that.
