(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- If you’re counting on Amtrak to get you home for the holidays, you’re not alone.
The national passenger rail enterprise expects to be busy, and spokesman Marc Magliari says extra cars and crew will be on hand to help.
“We tell our regular customers to be helpful to those people who are irregular customers and for everyone to be patient because the trains are going to be very full,” he said Tuesday. “That means we’re probably going to be a little bit behind schedule as we find lots and lots of people boarding and de-boarding at stations.”
Magliari says one day in particular may require some extra patience.
“Our busiest day will be this Sunday after Thanksgiving because nearly everybody needs to be back from being over the river and through the woods by Monday morning.”
And whether you’re lugging home clothes or Thanksgiving leftovers, he reminds riders to ensure baggage isn’t over Amtrak weight limits.
