Warm up this weekend with free hot yoga and a variety of fitness classes being offered as part of the inaugural Explore and Restore Open House in Andersonville.
"This year, what we decided to do was give attendees the opportunity to actually visit and talk to these health and wellness businesses and service businesses in their actual locations, as well as having some pop-up vendors that are going to be in our in our pop-up space," said Charlie Wein, Director of Marketing and Communications with the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce.
Wein said the event is a part of Andersonville's annual Swedish-inspired Säg Hej Health and Wellness celebration at the start of the year.
"Säg hej means 'Say hey,' so the idea being that even just saying 'hey' to your neighbor on the street does so much for your mental health and even just your physical health," he said. "So, we've always used January as an opportunity to promote our health and wellness vendors, our service vendors, anything that can really go into creating a healthier, more comfortable lifestyle, especially starting in the new year."
The open house, taking place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature more than a dozen businesses, from gyms to yoga studios, to chiropractors and lifestyle coaches.
Wein said he hopes people both learn more about different ways they can take care of their health but also visit businesses and meet local shop owners they never have before.
"We want our people that come to Andersonville to really feel like this is a neighborhood they can come to, where they can find those sort of opportunities and services that they don't even necessarily realize are there and will be useful to them, or even subjects of health and wellness that they weren't familiar with before," Wein said.
You can find more about participating businesses on the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce website.
