CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Black Friday marks the release of this year’s Bourbon County Stout from Goose Island and another tradition from the Chicago brewery is giving early access to fans.

On a chilly but sunny day last Saturday, people lined up to taste new variants of Imperial Stout from Goose Island outside its Fulton Market tap room. The brewery’s Quinn Fuechsl said Proprietors’ Day is one of the happiest beer festivals he’s been a part of.

"I see a lot of familiar faces here- like folks that have been in Prop day in the past," he said.

"When they put it on their calendar, they make sure that they're first in line for tickets. They'll travel in from all around the country."

After years of unsuccessfully entering the lottery, Steve Kaminsky from Homewood made it to the festival Goose Island has been hosting since 2016- with some COVID adjustments.

"They were the originators- something about Stouts and this time of year and barrel-aged beers," he said.

Kaminski also told WBBM that he has close to 100 Bourbon County beers going back to 2015.

This year’s variants include flavors of rice pudding and bananas foster.
