A Republican congressman from Southern Illinois on Monday said he’s doing well as he recovers from the coronavirus.

Rep. Mike Bost announced on Twitter on Friday that he had been diagnosed with the virus that causes COVID-19 and that he was isolating at home. He said then his symptoms included a mild cough and rapid loss of taste and smell.

Bost on Monday posted a video on Twitter thanking supporters for their well wishes. He said his wife also tested positive for coronavirus.

“In a couple of weeks we’ll be up to 100% doing exactly what we need to do,” the congressman said in the video.

Bost said his staff also self-isolated as a precaution and contacted anyone that could potentially be at risk.

Earlier this year, Bost's downstate colleague, U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, tested positive for coronavirus and self-isolated.
