(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A far northern suburb wants to review plans to spruce up part of its downtown.

“It’s been a parcel that’s been an eyesore for many years. It used to be an old gas station,” said Antioch Mayor Scott Gartner.

He was referring to 4.5 acres near the Sequoit Creek channel. The village has asked for redevelopment proposals that emphasize park land and amenities. The village is encouraging the inclusion of stone walls, a pedestrian bridge, splash pad, playground equipment, among other features.

Sealed bids are due next month.
