CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The calendar might say it’s spring, but today sure feels and looks like winter.

Snow showers mixed with rain are making their way through the Chicago area, resulting in slick and potentially treacherous driving conditions.

The National Weather Service says slushy, wet snow will create reduced visibility throughout the morning and into the early afternoon.

The best chance for accumulating snow, according to the NWS, will be mainly north of I-80 and west of the Fox River. One to three inches could potentially fall. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for both McHenry and DeKalb Counties until noon.

For the rest area, a light, slushy coating is more likely.

Today looks like a complete washout. AccuWeather says showers will continue throughout the day, with the steadier stuff tapering down tonight to lighter, spottier precipitation.

Tomorrow won’t be much better. AccuWeather forecasts morning sleet along with periods of rain.

Temperatures these next two days will be below normal as well. AccuWeather’s forecast high for today will be in the 30s. Tomorrow, we’ll be in the low 40s. With gusty winds, it will feel more like the 20s.

Thankfully, there is an end in sight to this nasty, raw weather. Friday, we’ll start to warm up and dry out, and, by the end of the weekend, AccuWeather says temps could reach the mid 50s.
