(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago’s Roman Catholic Archdiocese is not commenting on a reported $800,000 settlement connected to decades-old allegations of sexual abuse by priests.
Attorneys for a group of alleged victims say the accusations involve five Chicago-area priests, including the Rev. George Clements of Holy Angels in Bronzeville.
Victims advocate Doctor Robert Hoatson said Cardinal Blase Cupich should put the late Clements on the Archdiocese’s public list of “credibly accused priests.”
The settlement also references Brother Edward Courtney, who served at three Chicago area high schools run by the Irish Christian Brothers.
A spokesperson for the archdiocese declined comment Tuesday, saying the church does not discuss litigation.
