ARLINGTON HEIGHTS (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Bears’ planned development at Arlington Park Racetrack came up during a meeting of the Village Board Monday night. Most agreed this is going to take a long time.

"We thought we'd be further along than we are today," said Charles Witherington-Perkins, the village’s director of planning and community development, said.

There were a few football metaphors uttered at the meeting. Trustee Jim Tinaglia said there’s been no real “forward progress.” Although, the Bears have applied for demolition permits. Another, Jim Bertucci, said, “everybody has the realization” that this will go on for five or ten years.

The Daily Herald reported some trustees won’t be around to see it through.

“I find everybody willing to carry the ball forward, so to speak, as far as they can until they need to hand it off," Bertucci said.

There is still a lot of planning, negotiations, studies and more studies.
