(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A woman from Arlington Heights has been charged with starting a fire in her own apartment last week.

The fire broke out in a first-floor apartment Thursday afternoon near East Seegers and Parking Lot Roads. It left at least three units uninhabitable

Firefighters were able to evacuate the building, and no injuries were reported.

Investigators said they determined that Paula Cristina Sanchez — a tenant who was found outside of the residence — deliberately started the fire in her apartment.

Prosecutors have charged Sanchez with aggravated arson.

If convicted, Sanchez could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.
