Arlington Heights mayor hints at possible sale of Arlington Park

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Future plans for the historic Arlington International Racecourse could be announced soon.

A public announcement for the redevelopment of Arlington Park could come in the next couple of months, Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes told the Daily Herald.

The 326 acres are owned by Churchill Downs Inc., which put the property up for sale in February. Bidding on Arlington Park closed in June.

The Louisville-based corporation will end horse racing operations at the race track on Sept. 25.

Hayes said he thinks Churchill Downs is close to finalizing the sale.
