CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A South Loop Lou Malnati's employee was injured early Sunday morning after the store was targeted by armed robbers, Chicago police said.

Police said the robbers were armed with a knife and gun when they showed up at the Lou Malnati's near the corner of South State Street and East 8th Street.

It happened just before 2 a.m., police said, while two employees were still in the restaurant.

One of the employees was injured when they fell and hit their head during the incident.

That worker was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

No one was in custody, but officials said there are two unidentified suspects — a male and a female — who made off with the contents of a safe.
