Chicago police have one person in custody Tuesday after the killing of 28-year-old Daniel L. Figueroa, who was delivering food when the attack happened on the city’s West Side.
No charges have been announced but a Chicago police spokesperson confirmed the arrest of a “person of interest.”
Figueroa, 28, was in the 5500 block of West Flournoy Street when he was attacked about 2:10 a.m. Monday, police said.
Figueroa, of suburban Westmont, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:46 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. A cause and manner of his death was not immediately known. An autopsy was scheduled.
“We’re incredibly saddened by this tragic loss, and our thoughts are with their family and loved ones as they navigate this unimaginably difficult time,” an emailed statement from Uber said. “We’ve reached out to police and will assist them however we can.”
