(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police in north suburban Lake County say a family member has been arrested in connection to the shooting deaths of two brothers who were found outside a burning home in Highland Park early Wednesday.
The sibling's younger brother, Jeffery Austwick, 54, is in custody in St. Louis, according to police.
The two men were found dead following a house fire in the 1700 block of Park Avenue West.
The men have been identified as brothers 63-year-old Marc Austwick, of Lake Forest, and 60-year-old John Austwick, of Mundelein.
Chris Covelli of the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force spoke with WBBM and said Jeffery's brothers were discussing the property, which belonged to their mother and was where Jeffery lived, when things escalated.
Covelli said that is when Jeffery shot them both and started the house on fire.
Jeffery is in custody in Missouri, pending an initial court hearing.
