
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - There were over a dozen injured after a school bus and car collided head-on the Southwest Side.
The Chicago Fire Department said the crash occurred near 31st and Kedzie, in the Little Village neighborhood. The accident occurred around 10:15a.m., police said.
Fire officials said 17 people were hurt, 16 transported to area hospitals, including both the vehicles’ drivers. They are described in critical condition.
The bus had onboard students, ages 16-18, with disabilities, the CFD noted. Nine of them were transported Stroger and St. Anthony hospitals. They are said to be in good condition. Several adult bus passengers were also injured.
According to police, an SUV heading south on Kedzie tried to go around a semi and drove into oncoming traffic. It then crashed into the school bus.
The man driving the SUV was issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle driving on a revoked license.
