(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Growing scandals within Northwestern University’s athletic program are casting a shadow on campus.
“I was shocked just to see the span of different things, like the racial harassment, like the sexual harassment, just all of it, like that it’s been going on for so long and nobody had said anything,” said one graduate student, who asked not to be identified.
A former football player on the university's team told The Daily Northwestern that hazing in the football program involved coerced sexual acts. Players also told the college paper that the team was a “culture of enabling racism.”
On Friday, the football team's head coach Pat Fitzgerald was suspended for two weeks without pay. But Northwestern University President Michael Schill said the matter may not be over.
Meantime, WSCR reported Monday on a new scandal: misconduct allegations against the head baseball coach Jim Foster.
