CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago Police are warning people in Rogers Park about a man attempting to lure a child into a van Tuesday.

Police said a man believed to be in his 30s drove up to the child near Lunt and Ridge and tried to get him or her into his van.

When the child refused, police said the man parked the vehicle and came after the child.

A community alert said this happened at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, about a block from George Armstrong Elementary School.

Police said the man was about six feet tall, wearing jeans and a black and red short-sleeved shirt and was driving a white minivan with spray paint on the front passenger side.

Police encourage people to walk in pairs.
