AURORA, Il. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Aurora’s City Council voted Tuesday on a proposal that would allow Hollywood Casino to move to a new location.
By a 10-1 vote, the Aurora City Council gave a thumbs up for Hollywood Casino to move from its home along the Fox River to a location near the Reagan Tollway.
The casino has been at its current location for 30 years. The new casino will cost $360 million dollars to build. That will include a $50 million dollar bond issued by the city of Aurora- one that will be paid back by increased property taxes on the casino.
Construction is to start later this year.
