Aurora continues cleanup following historic storms

Aurora continues cleanup following historic storms
City of Aurora

The city of Aurora's Public Works Department is still working around the clock following historic rainfall and storm damage over the weekend.

Dozens of trees and countless limbs came down or were damaged due to lightening and high winds over the Fourth of July weekend.

The worst of the damage was concentrated on the west side near Montgomery, especially in the Fox River corridor.

In addition to lightening and wind damage, the National Weather Service says the storms also brought down around eight inches of rain.

Aurora residents in Wards 4, 5, or 6 experiencing large, downed branches or downed tree limbs are encouraged to place them at the curb by the end of Monday for the Street Maintenance Division to pick up.
