A high school student has been honored by the mayor of Aurora for her significant academic achievement.
Rosary College Prep Junior Alexandra Jurado was one of just 2,958 students nationwide to earn a perfect score on the ACT last Spring.
It's a feat earned by just 0.25-percent of U.S. students annually.
"I'm really honored to be here today," Jurado said during Tuesday's Committee of the Whole meeting. "I've never been in City Hall, so this is really cool."
She is the first Rosary student to record the perfect score since 2009.
In addition to thanking family and friends, the high schooler also thanked her school and teachers.
"I'm truly thankful for everyone who has helped me reach this milestone and I'm looking forward to the future," Jurado said.
