Spring is in the air, and so are lawn and garden scams. Tip Off to the Rip Off on WBBM featuring Kayla Palmore has some advice for avoiding them.
As homeowners gear up to beautify their yards and embark on spring gardening projects, be vigilant against seasonal scams targeting lawn and garden services. Many victims report that they pay for a season of lawn care services up front only to find the scammer has vanished.
Be careful when dealing with unfamiliar businesses that use high pressure tactics, especially ones that contact you unsolicited. Anyone unexpectedly knocking at your door is a major red flag. Anytime you invest in expensive shrubs, trees, landscaping, irrigation, and lawn care treatments, make sure to check for proper experience and licensing. Always use a credit card and get any services outlined on paper to prevent any problems.
