With holiday shopping discounts you may have scored some swashbuckling savings, but Porch Pirates may try to steal your treasure.

Jordan Wright with the Better Business Bureau’s Tip-Off to the Rip-Off® on WBBM Newsradio has tips for staying safe.

Expecting a package? You’re not alone—and neither are the thieves watching your doorstep. Last year, Porch Pirates stole over 113 million packages nationwide. They target homes with easy access, especially those with packages visible from the street.

And it’s not just theft—fake delivery texts and emails are surging, tricking shoppers into clicking malicious links or sharing personal info. Never click links or call numbers from suspicious messages.

Protect yourself: avoid leaving packages unattended, use secure locations, and install a visible security camera.
