The forecast this summer: sunshine with a chance of scams. Jay Elliott with the Better Business Bureau’s Tip-Off to the Rip-Off® on WBBM Newsraido has the details.
Imagine threats of having your power cut off in the middle of a heatwave, or finding out your summer getaway rental is actually a fake listing.
Other summer schemes range from bogus home security plans to fake air conditioning checks, plus a wave of home repair jobs that never get finished or done right.
Your best defense is to always research businesses and check ratings and reviews before engaging with them.
Be wary of “great deals” involving leftover materials or contractors who just happen to be in your neighborhood. Don’t fall for high-pressure sales tactics, rushed decisions, or letting strangers into your home.
