The holidays are here - and so are the scammers.
The Better Business Bureau’s Tip-Off to the Rip-Off® on WBBM has tips for avoiding them.
This year, watch out for deals that seem too good to be true. Fake retail sites, phony shipping notices, and social media “flash sales” are some of the biggest traps.
If you get a text saying a package can’t be delivered - don’t click it. Go straight to the retailer’s official app or website.
Shopping online? Check for misspelled URLs, missing customer service pages, and pressure tactics like “only 1 left!”
And remember - never pay with gift cards or wire transfers. Use a credit card for built-in fraud protection.
Stay alert, shop smart, and keep your holidays scam-free.
