(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A producer for 670 The Score says he and his fiancée invited the Chicago Bears to their wedding this fall and got a response they never expected.
The response came just a few days Tyler Buterbaugh and his fiancée Emily Green sent the invitation.
The couple received a signed letter from Bears Chairman George McCaskey in which the executive congratulates the couple and refers to weddings in his own family. That includes the elopement of his mother, Virginia, who married Ed McCaskey 80 years ago, “on George Halas’s birthday!,” George McCaskey said, referring to the Bears patriarch known as “Papa Bear.”
"My favorite sister and her husband recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary,” George McCaskey added. “I remember our dad's advice to them like it was yesterday: 'Give and give and give and give until you can't give anymore. Then give some more.'”
Buterbaugh was touched by the gesture, saying, "We both thought that was one of the sweetest things we've heard from someone, and especially someone we don't really know."
When he sent the Bears the wedding invitation, he said he didn't mention he was a sports radio producer.
Buterbaugh is not sure anyone from the Bears is actually showing up at the wedding, but the couple will save a table, just in case.
One Bear will be there: Buterbaugh's dog named Bear, who'll be the ring bear-er.
