Beverly family carjacked at gunpoint outside of their home: 'I'll never forget any of it'
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Michele Pettiford had just returned to her Beverly home with her 12-year-old daughter last Thursday night when two robbers pushed her to the ground and pointed guns at them.
She told CBS 2 Chicago that she doesn't intend to watch the Ring video that captured the attack.
"I don't need to see it," she said. "I know what they did. I know that they pointed guns at my husband. They rushed at me with guns."
Michele's husband Jeff told the station he rushed outside after hearing screams from her and their 12-year-old daughter.
"The feeling and the sound, I'll never forget any of it, but that is probably going to stick around the longest," he said.
He tried to deescalate the situation by telling the robbers to take his car instead, which they did. Their story will be added to the 51% jump in car thefts in their police district in 2023.
