CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Mount Prospect ice cream company had President Biden and his retinue covered when he was in town on Wednesday.
Capannari’s co-owner Katie Dolan Dix said the ice cream maker delivered product to then-Vice President Joe Biden at Midway in 2009.
After they got the call from the White House this week, she and her sister put together a 50-scoop shipment — vanilla and three other flavors — to take to O’Hare.
“We know how much he loves ice cream. We know that vanilla is his favorite. We packed a heavy load for him,” Dolan Dix told WBBM Newsradio on Friday.
They did not encounter Biden personally this time but appreciated the president’s people sought them out. Plus, it was cool to see Air Force One, she said.
“That’s kind of the fun part about it, is getting ourselves through all the security and then coming out the other end with this plane, which is the size of Manhattan.”
