(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- This month, visitors to the Lincoln Tomb in Springfield are learning about more than just the 16th president and his family.
In celebration of Black History Month, the state is giving every guest who visits the historic site a set of four education cards featuring Black leaders who were also laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The cards feature Lewis Martin, who escaped slavery and enlisted in the Union Army; Eva Carroll Monroe, who dedicated her life to helping Black children; Anderson Homan, who created affordable housing for those facing discrimination; and Charles Lockhart, who was a leader in fire safety for 35 years.
The cards will be given out through the end of the month.
