(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Tickets went on sale Tuesday for the Chicago incarnation of Blue Man Group, which is returning after a 15-month hiatus.
The first show, post-pandemic, will be Aug. 18. Expect a few changes in the chaotic show at the Briar Street Theatre.
For example: Audience members in the first few rows will not get drenched.
“The section you’re talking about is called the poncho section because everybody wears ponchos,” managing director Mary Grisolano said. “We’re telling audiences we’re not going to squirt things at you from the stage.”
And the Blue Men won’t be climbing over the seats, either, says Grisolano, who started with the show in 2000 as an office assistant. Social distancing will be practiced.
“We’ll explore plexiglass,” she said.
Grisolano says audiences can still expect a high-energy show. And humor. And percussion.
