Bolingbrook in need of 'Snow Angels' for volunteer program

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Residents of one southwest suburb are being asked to step up to help some of their neighbors when snow falls this winter.

Michael Carpanzano is a village trustee in Bolingbrook, who runs a volunteer program called "Snow Angels."

He said the program serves Bolingbrook residents who are 60 or older, or who have physical disabilities. Whenever two or more inches of snow falls, volunteers are asked to shovel the driveway, sidewalk and/or stair leading to the homes of these residents.

Carpanzano said well over 100 people have asked for help this winter from "Snow Angels," but at least 15 more volunteers are needed to meet the demand.

"Right now, the urgent demand unfortunately is outpacing what our current supply of volunteers is."

He said Bolingbrook residents who'd like to volunteer can sign up here.
