URBANA (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Campus police at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign have ruled out a bomb threat at a campus dormitory after a threatening call was made to the department.
University police said the department received a 9-1-1 call Friday morning, threatening that explosive devices had been laid down at Davenport Hall, on Matthews Avenue near Oregon Street. Officers immediately shut down the building and sent out a campus-wide alert ordering the community to avoid the area.
After a thorough investigation by the East Central Illinois Bomb Squad and K9 units, campus police deemed the threat not credible and fully reopened the campus. No evidence of explosives was found in the dorm, police said.
Law enforcement will continue looking into the threatening call that was made Friday morning.
