ALSIP, Ill. CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A DuPage County Judge set bond at $500,000 Friday for a 16-year-old boy accused of attempted murder and aggravated battery.

Nathen Gaytan of Alsip is charged with shooting at two people, striking one twice.

Prosecutors said that on August 12 around 8:30 pm, the two victims were walking on Army Trail Road when Gaytan and another person confronted the pair and began yelling and pointing a gun at the victims. They walked away.

A short time later, a vehicle drove up and allegedly Gaytan got out and fired at the victims nine times, striking one in the arm and thigh.

Authorities said Gaytan then fled the scene, but was later identified as a suspect.

Gaytan is due back in court next month.
