(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two North Side aldermen are warning about an attempted kidnapping in Lincoln Square on Monday afternoon.

Chicago police and the aldermen say an 8-year-old boy was walking near Ainslie and Seeley ahead of his parent at around 2:20 p.m. when a man drove up and tried to pull him into his vehicle through a window.

The boy hit the man and ran away, say Alds. Andre Vasquez and Matt Martin.

In an alert to residents, they describe the suspect as a white man in his late 30s with medium length dark hair, driving a dirty dark blue Toyota Corolla.

They say the suspect drove away westbound on Ainslie. Detectives are investigating, and the aldermen have alerted nearby schools and daycares.
