Inauguration Day: Brandon Johnson to be sworn in as Chicago's mayor

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Brandon Johnson will be sworn in today as Chicago’s 57th mayor.

Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson starts his big day at Michele Clark Magnet High School in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side. Then, mid-morning, at UIC’s Credit Union 1 Arena, Johnson will officially succeed Lori Lightfoot as the city’s chief executive.

Members of the City Council will take their oaths of office. City Clerk Anna Valencia will be sworn in for another term, and Melissa Conyears-Ervin will be sworn-in as city treasurer.

This afternoon, the new mayor and the city’s new first lady will greet Chicgoans at City Hall and in Daley Plaza.
