CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Brookfield Zoo unveils it's more than 100 foot Ferris wheel Friday for it's 90th year anniversary.
The 125-ton Ferris wheel, located just east of the zoo’s Roosevelt Fountain, features 24 gondolas that each seat up to six people.
During evening hours and events, it will be lit up with 350,000 multicolored LED lights. The zoo said in a news release that the Ferris wheel will give visitors a "unique bird’s-eye views of the park’s gardens, animal habitats, and Chicago skyline."
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held and guests were invited to be some of the first riders. A ride on the attraction is between 7 and 8 minutes long and it's open now through December 31.
Tickets are $8 and $6 for zoo members.
