(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A bus driver taking members of the Pittsburgh Pirates from Chicago to Milwaukee on Thursday night was arrested for DUI.

Illinois State Police were escorting the busses and they said the driver of one of them Ronald E. Funderburke, 61 from Shelby, N.C., was driving erratically.

ISP said in a statement that he “was not following the escort and was traveling away from the escorting officers.”

This was about 11:30 p.m. The Pirates had played the Cubs and were heading to Milwaukee to play the Brewers.

“Troopers observed more erratic driving and stopped the bus on the right shoulder of Interstate 94 northbound at Dempster Street," the statement said.

“After observing multiple signs of impairment, Troopers arrested Funderburke for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.”

The team did make it safely to Milwaukee.
