CAROL STREAM (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Carol Stream Police have released to the public body cam footage of last month’s fatal interaction with a 30-year-old man.

Isaac Goodlow III was shot and killed by police in the early morning hours of Feb. 3.

Video has now been shared publicly on the Village of Carol Stream’s social media channels.

The time frame spanned the moment just before six officers entered his apartment, using keys provided by property management, to just shortly after the first paramedic arrived, four minutes after Goodlow was shot.

Video showed that, within about fifteen seconds of entering the apartment and announcing their office, Goodlow’s bedroom door is kicked open by an officer. Shots are almost simultaneously fired.

Carol Stream Police Chief Don Cummings introduced the newly released footage, saying two officers fired their weapons, another deployed a Taser, with two rounds being fired. Goodlow was shot one time in the chest, he said.

Within seconds, Cummings said, officers called for an ambulance.

The video revealed Goodlow being handcuffed, making it seem difficult for officers to turn him over on his back to begin rendering aid. It would be about two minutes before CPR was first administered.

Chief Cummings ended his narration by promising to share full results of an independent investigation when possible.

Earlier this week, Goodlow’s family filed a federal lawsuit, naming  the Village of Carol Stream as well as the officers who responded to the domestic violence call as defendants.

“It was so clear on that night that there were no emergency circumstances or cause or reason to rush into Isaac’s apartment,” attorney Stephen Hart, who is representing Goodlow’s sisters, said.

Goodlow’s uncle, Henry Pigram, said the body cam footage proved his nephew was alone and in bed when he was shot and killed.
“From what I’ve seen, he got ambushed,” Pigram said.
