CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Illinois Secretary of State’s Office once again suspended Carvana’s dealer license, prohibiting the online retailer from selling cars to anyone in the state.

The company’s license was previously suspended in May following customer complaints, but the Secretary of State issued a stay order effectively lifting the suspension order assuming Carvana followed strict guidelines.

Now, state officials claim the company violated state law by giving Illinois residents out-of-state temporary registration plates and not using a licensed third party to transfer titles.

The used car retailer would also issue temporary registrations up to five times for the same vehicle.

The suspension went into effect on Monday, meaning cars that were purchased on or before July 18 can still be delivered.

An administrative hearing is scheduled for August 30.

The Illinois Secretary of State said customers having issues with a Carvana title or registration are urged to file a complaint with the state by calling the Illinois Secretary of State Police at 630-693-0551.
