'It appeared to be a very gruesome attack': investigation of man found dead in Ford City Mall parking lot continues

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police are attempting to identify a man found dead behind the movie theater at the Ford City Mall early Wednesday.

The body appeared to have been dumped there and according to Chicago police, the man seemed to be between 40 and 50 years-old. It looked like he had been tortured.

“It appeared to be a very gruesome attack on the individual,” said Chicago Police Chief of Detectives Brendan Dennihan.

Deloris Ross found the body, she was cutting through the mall parking lot on her way to work.

She spoke to CBS 2.

“I don’t know who the man is, but I feel for him on that though, nothing should happen to nobody like that at all,” Ross said.

There was an extension cord around the man’s neck, and he had been tied up and was found wearing only underwear and socks.
