Chase Bank announces major upgrades to its Loop headquarters

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --J.P. Morgan Chase says it is launching a massive renovation of its iconic slope-sided tower in the heart of the Loop.

The Chase Bank building, the skyscraper with the sloping sides is still the tallest building in the loop, but it's 55 years old.

JP Morgan Chase executives like Midwest Managing Director Tony Maggiore are announcing a major renovation.

"Today, it's more than just about a building," he said. "It's about reinforcing our historic roots in Chicago and reflecting on JP Morgan Chase's long history, deep involvement and remarkable ongoing impact on the city."

The entranceway, with its soaring windows, will include a mezzanine with food and such. There will be a fitness center in the building as well. David Arena, Chase's head of real estate says they like their loop building.

"It's iconic. It has incredible open spaces around it," he said.

"It's in dead center of the city and we just couldn't be happier to be making this kind of an investment." Mayor Brandon Johnson was on hand to lead the applause and say thanks for the vote of confidence in the city.
