A chef has found a way to connect Chicago school children to nature and to help them learn more about themselves.

Sebastian White is a founder of "A Seat at the Table," which has organized farmers markets at Chicago Jesuit Academy on the West Side and Ray Elementary School on the South Side.

White says the markets feature items that students helped grow or make, while teaching them important lessons.

White says proceeds from the farmers markets help schools create and maintain gardens.

He also hopes bringing farmers markets to schools will encourage communities to host more of them, providing more nutrition and opportunities to those neighborhoods.
