Chicago Archdiocese to lift school mask mandate in Chicago, Evanston and Oak Park

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Catholic schools in Chicago are dropping their mask requirement beginning Monday.

The Archdiocese of Chicago said masks will be optional for students and staff at Catholic schools in the city, Evanston and Oak Park.

Masks are already optional in Catholic schools in Lake County and most of suburban Cook County.

In a letter to parents, the Archdiocese saidthe decision to drop the mask requirement was based on “extremely low infection rates and guidance from… medical advisors.”

The city of Chicago is dropping its mask mandate beginning Monday, but there is still a mask mandate in Chicago Public Schools.
