CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A South Side gas station has one very lucky customer.
A winning ticket for last week’s $23.75 million Lotto jackpot was sold on the Far South Side, at the BP gas station near 95th and King Drive, the Illinois Lottery announced.
“I can’t believe it, the winning jackpot ticket was actually sold here,” said the gas station’s co-owner Tanveer Haroon. “We’ve owned this family business for more than 10 years and this is by far the biggest winning jackpot ticket we’ve ever sold at our store, I’m so happy.”
The Roseland gas station will receive a $237,500 bonus- one percent of the prize amount - for selling the winning ticket.
Haroon told the Illinois Lottery he does not know for sure who the winner is but believes it’s one of their regular customers.
This was the largest jackpot won in Illinois this year and the second biggest prize in more than seven years.
