(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Cardinal Blase Cupich will help the archdiocese’s Gay and Lesbian Outreach Ministry celebrate its 35th anniversary this weekend.

The Cardinal will be saying Mass on Sunday evening at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, which serves as the home parish for the ministry.

The ministry was begun with the help of the late Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, who wanted to keep LGBTQ+ Catholics connected to the church.

The mass will be at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a reception.
