(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – International cultures, traditions, and histories take center stage at Daley Plaza, as Chicago celebrates its sister cities this week.

The Chicago Sister Cities International festival was an annual tradition up until 2015. Anel Montes with World Business Chicago said the return of the festival highlights Chicago's vibrant diversity and its global connections.

"We're excited to be back on the plaza and being able to give the citizens of Chicago and tourists alike an opportunity to learn more about Chicago's sister cities,” Montes said.

The three-day fest features food and merchandise vendors from cities in Ukraine, Mexico, Japan, among others, as well as musical performances every day.

Erika Espinoza owns Colores Mexicanos and says she's representing Mexico City.

"It's very important to have spaces like this to represent our culture,” she said.

The free festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
